St. Michael Lutheran Church

Confirmation Ministry

We Inkubate Faith

St. Michael provides an innovative and creative two-year program for our young people using the Head to the Heart resources of Faith Inkubators. Our goal is to grow junior high small groups into senior high ministry groups over time with this family-centered, arts-based approach to confirmation ministry. We celebrate the faith with art, music, skits, gameshows and caring relationships at church. We blend learning with servanthood and fellowship with time-tested methods. We are also looking to pull parents into the process of their own son or daughters' faith journey every night in every home with Living Journals. Through Head to the Heart our young people are immersed in a community of faith that cares passionately for them and shares a love of scripture and respect for the great teachings of the Lutheran faith.

Students in seventh and eighth grade, gather weekly on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jonathan, along with our small group Guides, help them disect and discuss basics of the Christian faith using Martin Luther’s Small Catechism and applying its teachings to everyday life. Several trips are planned each year including a retreat at Tel Hai Camp and a trip to Youth Quake.

Outreach and community service is also a priority of our confirmation ministry. The class carries on the long standing tradition of the classes before them by sponsoring Thanksgiving Baskets to needy families identfied by a local prison ministry. We also participate in the 30 Hour Famine project hosted by our Senior High Youth.
