Kentucky Mission Trip 2005
The Red Bird Mission team from St. Peter’s/St. Michael Lutheran Churches began their mission on July 24. The team was divided into four groups and the days were spent working on a variety of projects. Teams completed work on a house that needed replacement siding and exterior painting, built a small deck at the rear exit of a home, built a 10’x12’ room addition to the rear of a trailer, and spent time cleaning and preparing a girls dormitory for the school (which began on August 4).

There was a team of five women who worked four days in the camp kitchen and helped with meal preparation. We delivered school supplies, new tools for use by the work camp teams, and bags and bags of clothing for resale in the Community store.
Evenings were spent touring other facets of the Mission. There were opportunities to tour the medical clinic, the K-12 school, the Community store as well as the Craft store. Red Bird Mission is a large project that provides employment and services to the neighboring communities in this isolated mountain region.
The team thanks you for your prayers and provisions as we shared your best wishes with people in this rural, mountainous region of southeastern Kentucky.
