Nicaragua Mission Trip 2005
From July 2 to 12, Tom Hannigen and Mary Duncan represented St. Michael on a team of 19 short-term missionaries journeying to Nicaragua. Our mission was divided geographically between the mountain town of Matagalpa and the Managua suburb of Los Brasiles, where we have spent previous summers building a church and beginning a school.

An action packed two days in Matagalpa found us visiting the children recuperating in the Re-nutrition Center, presenting Bible stories to children in feeding centers, installing security lights at the newly opened hospital, and climbing a mountain to visit a remote village.
In Los Brasiles we became construction laborers as we helped expand the Christian school. We mixed cement, laid concrete block, painted steel beams and leveled the gravel for the soon-to-be basketball court. The children in several communities enjoyed our Bible dramas and crafts. Members of the team showed teachers in two schools how to integrate children’s fiction and non-fiction books more fully into their curriculum.
