Construction Update
Scroll down our chronological photojournal to see the progress.

July 10, 2007
The long awaited start of construction activity began officially on Tuesday, July 10, with the arrival of the Wickersham Construction site trailer. Tools and equipment continue to arrive daily as the crew begins the early stages of re-modeling the current fellowship hall into an educational wing that will feature eight new classrooms.

The target date for completion of this first phase of the project is early September, 2007. The start of new construction is scheduled for late September, with plans to have the new building under cover by Christmas, 2007. This phase of the project will see the addition of a new Fellowship Hall with an upgraded kitchen; a new Administrative wing, conference room, restrooms, storage areas, and Youth Room. Upon the completion of this phase, the final renovations will take place which will include a new Music Suite, an expanded narthex/parlor area and pre-school classroom.

Construction crews have been hard at work taking down walls, folding partitions, the drop ceiling, old light fixtures and HVAC ductwork since their arrival in July. They have removed the old carpeting and the floor tiles beneath the carpet exposing the original concrete slab. A second thickness of drywall has also been added to the existing ceiling this past week to meet fire code regulations.

This is tedious, time-consuming work, but necessary work as we prepare for the new education wing that will soon begin taking shape. The footprint of the new building has been staked out and gives one a better sense of the entire scope of the project.
