Sock Hop - A 50s Celebration of 50 Years

Nearly 150 St. Michael members rallied at the Hockessin Community Building January 19th to celebrate 50 years the Fifties way. The sock hop featured 50s health food - hot dogs and hamburgers accompanied by fries. Root beer floats rounded out the menu. Betweeen the DJ's musical sounds, MC Lou Minella interjected comments and contests. Everyone left smiling ... even if they were born after the 50s.

Elvis, alias Tom Horne, set the tone.

Mary Boeni sported a leather jacket specially decorated by daughter Meg.

Kammy Franz, one of the organizers, welcomed the group.

Saddle shoes, poodle skirts and rolled up T-shirt sleeves were definitely back in style.

Coleen Benjamin enjoys the limbo.

Many enjoyed those old tunes on the dance floor.
